Profound thoughts come hard.

"You can’t see anything properly while your eyes are blurred with tears. You can’t, in most things get what you want if you want it too desperately. Anyway you can’t get the best out of it." C.S. Lewis – A Grief Observed

To want something doesn't mean that you are to have it. To have something doesn't mean that you are to want it. Contentment doesn't mean that you have all that you want, nor does it mean you want all that you have. True contentment can only come when you have found satifation in something beyond your desires. And only then can you really enjoy that which you have to the fullest

What is that book about? (The one you mentioned in your comment)

I think this quote is interesting. I think sometimes we don't get things that we want "too desperately" because the Lord wants us to want Him desperately and the rest will follow.

Seek first the kingdom of God...

Love you, darling. :o)

The book was written right after his wife died and it was an expression of some of the things he was going through.

I would agree with your statement. I also have found it true a lot of times that if I want something so badly that is consumes my every moment in desire, that I render myself unable to function properly and to fully appreciate that which I desire.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I think it's especially true that our if our focus becomes so directed toward something other than God, we can't find happiness or whatever else we were hoping for.

Hmm. Yeah. Btw, you didn't answer your phone just now. :-P
